My workshops are designed to provide a space to connect and bring people together whilst doing art mindfully and increasing a feeling of wellbeing and creative revitalisation. The repeat patterns in Madhubani art help guide you to find your flow through the process of painting whilst entering a relaxed state.

Madhubani paintings were traditionally created by the women of different communities - of the Mithila region. It is named after Madhubani district of Bihar, India which is where it originated. The traditional paintings would reflect the natural environment including animals, people, life style, tradition and culture of the local people. They usually used a variety of tools, including fingers, twigs, brushes, nib-pens, and matchsticks as well as natural dyes/ pigments to create the paintings including eye-catching geometric patterns.

It is the art of Painting using natural colours which is now replaced with acrylics, fluid acrylics, watercolours, inks and includes intricate decorative designs and mark-making techniques to creatively to fill the space.

This workshop focuses on traditional forms with the authentic style of painting using tools to give the original feel of the state of Mithila.
